Dino Robot Fighting War

Oh my God, y’all. Palworld is unstoppable. Like, 32 MILLION players in one year, and it’s still going strong. Pocketpair’s survival-crafting-monster-catching-shooter (yes, all of those things) is raking in cash, breaking records, and making Game Pass look like the best deal in gaming.
But while Pocketpair is out here celebrating their W, Nintendo is still lurking in the background like a final boss, trying to shut this whole thing down.
Palworld launched in January 2024, and nobody—not even Pocketpair—was ready for what happened next. The game went crazy viral on Steam, Xbox, and now PS5, absolutely crushing concurrent player records.
Pocketpair’s response? Pure disbelief. Their boss, Takuro Mizobe, literally admitted they weren’t ready for the insane amount of money Palworld made. (Tough problem to have, huh?)
But don’t worry. They figured it out real quick. Not only did they sign a new deal with Sony, but they also launched Palworld Entertainment, a whole new business just to expand the IP.
Translation: This game isn’t going anywhere.
Now, let’s talk about the massive Pokémon-shaped elephant in the room. From Day 1, people have been calling Palworld “Pokémon with guns,” and Nintendo? They noticed.
But instead of hitting Pocketpair with a copyright lawsuit, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company decided to go the patent route. They’re suing over three patents tied to Pokémon Legends: Arceus, specifically the whole “throwing a ball to catch creatures in a virtual field” thing.
They want:
Bro.
Pocketpair? Not backing down. They’re straight-up going to court over this. In their own words:
“We will continue to assert our position in this case through future legal proceedings.”
Translation: We are ready to throw hands with Nintendo.
So, fun fact: Palworld recently tweaked how players summon Pals in-game, and a lot of people think it’s because of this lawsuit.
Before? It was literally like Pokémon—throw a Pal Sphere, out comes your Pal.
Now? There’s a new animation that kinda distances itself from Pokémon’s whole aesthetic. Hmm. Wonder why that happened.
While all this legal drama is going down, Pocketpair is still out here cooking. The team is dropping huge updates, making the game even bigger, AND launching crossovers with other major games.
Yeah, you read that right—Palworld x Terraria happened.
(Lowkey, if they start dropping Palworld x Elden Ring, I’m deleting my social life. Just saying.)
Nintendo can keep suing, critics can keep doubting, but Palworld just keeps winning.
And let’s be real—if they survive this lawsuit, Palworld Year 2 is about to go CRAZY.
